Fit-aroma in MONGE VETSOLUTION FELINE URINARY STRUVIT contains cranberry extract. Although sterile struvite is the most common type of struvite found in adult cats, nearly one-third of cats diagnosed with urolithiasis have significant bacteriuria. The fit-aroma in MONGE VETSOLUTION FELINE URINARY STRUVITE contains cranberry extract which is rich in proanthocyanidins (PAC). PAC, through its unique molecular structures, binds to adhesins (virulent factors related to the adherence of bacteria to epithelial cells). They work by inhibiting different types of adhesins on the hair-like fimbriae that protrude from the surface of the bacteria. One is fructose, which inhibits MS fimbrial adhesins, the other is a high molecular weight inhibitor that neutralizes MR adhesins, preventing bladder colonization. oligomeric proanthocyanidins can prevent struvite-mediated peroxidative damage by restoring the intracellular activity of antioxidant enzymes, increasing the action and efficiency of SOD. Average time to dissolve the stones is: 8 weeks for infection-induced struvite and 2 to 4 weeks for sterile struvite stones.
