Fit-Aroma in MONGE VETSOLUTION URINARY STRUVITE contains cranberry extract, which is rich in proanthocyanidins (PAC). PAC, through unique molecular structures, binds to adhesins (virulent factors associated with the adhesion of bacteria to epithelial cells). They work by inhibiting different types of adhesins on the hair-like fimbriae that protrude from the surface of bacteria. One is fructose, which inhibits MS fimbrial adhesins, the other is a high molecular weight inhibitor that neutralizes MR adhesins, preventing colonization in the bladder. Oligomeric proanthocyanidins can prevent struvite-mediated peroxidative damage by restoring the intracellular activity of antioxidant enzymes, increasing the action and effectiveness of SOD. The average time for dissolving stones is: 8 weeks for struvite caused by infection and 2 to 4 weeks for sterile struvite stones.
