Silybin's anti-inflammatory properties are mediated by the DNA / RNA nucleus. The key to the development of liver fibrosis is the conversion of liver stellate cells into myofibroblasts, which Silybin limits at the cellular level. Silybin reduces stellate DNA synthesis, multiplication, migration, and the formation of fibrous tissue.

Silybin limits changes in blood biochemical parameters, blood coagulation and reduces the degree of hepatic hemorrhagic necrosis. It also inhibits the absorption of toxins on the mucosa of hepatocytes by acting on salts  polypeptides. Inside the hepatocytes, Silybin eliminates free radicals that inhibit lipid peroxidation, supported by SOD, it prevents inflammation and fibrosis. The hepatoprotective effect of silybin increases protein synthesis, necessary for liver regeneration.

Silybin enjoys good enterohepatic recirculation and bile concentrations are almost 100 times higher compared to the concentration  serum.
